Klinkhamer Special

Worldwide famous fly that catches fish everywhere. As you all know, it was designed by Hans van Klinken, inovative Dutch (not Danish!!!) flyfisherman. Just as every successful fly, it does not imitate anything in particular, but it represent some living creature that is emerging out of the water. Due to it’s high and visible wing, it’s seen even from long distances, although most of the times you don’t have to cast too far away. Klinkhamer floats as a cork, especially, when it’s hackle and wing are worked up with floatant and the whole body is soaked with water or saliva. You can even tie a nymph on a leader to it – that’s a New Zealand’s dropper.

Although flies seen in a photo is not tied exactly as van Klinken does, it still works pretty well. That’s a killer pattern for such rivers as Merkys, Ūla and other Lithuanian rivers. You should try it in late summer evenings wen it’s almost a dusk and when trout are not as shy as during the day. Big polypropylene wing is well seen and it’s easy to notice even gentile sips, although usually the take is brutal.

This fly is special and if you want to know more about it, you should read this article or visit Hans’ website for the whole history of this and other flies.

Be to, galima naudoti ir vadinamąją “New Zealand Dropper” sistemą, kai prie musės pririšamas papildomas pavadėlis, o prie šio nimfa.
